« on: December 09, 2003, 03:26:23 PM »
HEY, Im 16 been trapping for three years now, im not to bad since i had the help of my dad to start me out which trapped for a living back then. But he never had much luck in trapping yotes or fox, hes never caught a yote but had got one fox. I was wondering if u guys could maybe throw some tips an some tactics like sets, lures and some good ways to trap these sly animals in the winter. Theres lots of feilds out here with creeks, rivers and forest country more south.
                    Thanks Tom

Well im looking for some set types for winter trapping since i got about 3inches of the white stuff on the ground. Ive tried snares an have found they work pretty good but am running out. an i have plenty of foot traps, but I need some info on like were to set them and what baits to use. An where to find antifreeze that i can make or maybe buy cheap, since money is really tight around here.
         Thanks, Tom

Hunterboy;
  WELCOME!
   Study those tips Ace will be sending and you might want to try getting good at the dirthole and post sets first.  They have proven to many trappers to be the "bread and butter" for canine.
  Can't help you much on the snow stuff though.  Around here we normally don't have to deal with it much and only for a day or two at a time.
For Sale: Old wore out trapper - rode hard, put up wet, high milage and earned every mile.
