My sons 20ga USH buck
« on: November 25, 2010, 02:46:02 PM »
Spikehorn jr. decided to go for a mid day sit in his treestand. At about 12:45 a hunter across the road started shooting and spooked the buck right up the edge of the field my son was sitting on. He took a 25 yard running shot. The 2 3/4" buck hammer enter the rear of the passenger side rib cage and exited just behind the drivers side shoulder. It turned both lungs to jelly and put a big hole in the heart. The buck ran about another 50 yards and piled up in the field. it was a crotch horn with little inch long brow tines, and one antler was broken off. Its his second buck. I couldn't be more proud.

Actually the other hunter was a friend of his from the track team and he called my son on their cell phones to see if it was him that had shot and to see if he got it. Gotta love small town country boys their sense of sportsmanship is truly awesome. He and my son both got their first bucks on the same weekend last year.

Good job Spikehorn Jr!  And what a difference cell phones make. Years ago that would have been discussed in gym class or history the following school day. Good shooting!
