Hello from Huntington.

Hello all, my name is Ken.

I awoke this morning to a beautiful morning.

"Thats me there with the dumb look on my face"


Took a look outside and decided its going to be a nice day, but noticed the temp at the moment was hovering just below 20*



So I built up the fire and got me a nice hot cup of coffee to chase the morning chill away,



and sat down at the Ole computer to see who all had posted to my intro post on Graybeards, and found Lonny's post, inviting me down here to the Indiana forum to introduce myself to all of you folks!



So, here I am, writing this, trying to come up with the best way to introduce me and my family to all the good folks from around Indiana, and I came up with this hair brained idea for a story board type posting.

My wife just awoke and came down, she is heading for the kitchen to make us up some home made biscuits and sausage gravy,

"This is her looking out over the local hunting ground we like to roam"



so I am going to go for now, time to go feed the critters and see if I can raise my wifes hackles by getting in the way out in the kitchen.



I will have to look up some pics of our kids for a future post, can't seem to find the ones I want right at the moment, but for the rest of the story, you can go here and read my main intro post!

Hair Brained" ya say?  Hmmm, ya don't appear to have any more left up there than I do.   ;D

Nice intro Ken.  BTW does the 156er have a meaning or am I just as dense as the rest of these guys tell me I am?   ::)

Didn't even look at the temp when I got up this mornin down here in the bottom of the state, but it looked like it had snowed as heavy as the frost was.

Yup, hair brained!
Thats the problem, my hair quit growing upward and started heading down, now its coming out my ears, eyebrows, nose and it doesn't appear that its going to stop there either!  ;D

The 156er stands for my favorite set of guns I have, H&R Huntsman, a 1972 .45 and 2-1973 .58 front stuffers.
And I am looking for a Huntsman in 12ga to add to them.

hello ken.  nice to see a face from someone thats not to far away.  adams county here.  if you havent been on here very long, just sit back and relax.  this is the best forum i have seen, with the nicest people you will find anywhere.  the best part about it is,everyone enjoys the same outdoor fun.  welcome.  brian

Mater of fact, my business is advertised in your Embark phone book over there "D&D Welding"
I have done some dealings with a few local gun shops over there, and am getting ready to go over to the one down off of old 303 out by Liberty Center in a few days, to get a scope mounted on my latest muzzle loadin gun, the old owners sons are trying to keep it open, good people out there!
If you ever go to that one, we may run across each other some day!

you mention old gun shops, its really amazing how many i can remember as a kid that are no longer around anymore.  i am only 35, and i can think of a half dozen just off the top of my head.  i know 2 just in portland, which is where i am from originally, but places like that are were you learned alot.  most people just stop by and chew the fat, rather looking for the latest ar or the newest auto loadin pistol.  i guess i am just old school.  i like it simple.  well anyway, you get over here in amish country give a shout... brian

I know what you mean Brian!
My all time favorite gun shop closed down some years back, it was called Don Lengel's gun shop over by Wabash.
It was the most popular gun shop around here within a 50 mile radius!
When Don past on, his family kept it open for about a year after, but soon sold it all off and closed the doors.
Don was the most knowledgeable person I have ever met when it comes to any type gun period!
He could perform magic it seamed as a gun smith, and his store had hundreds of new and used guns of all types in there, rack after rack in rows like a super market with guns on both sides of the isle that you could walk down and drool over, all lined up by type and category, I could spend an entire day in there just browsing around!

been there. but its been 12-15 yrs ago.  hate to hear it closed also.  that was the biggest shop i have been in, besides cabelas or bass pro..ha.  if you ever get the chance to make it down to parker city, gun shop called ludco's gun shop.  its the biggest little shop you will ever step foot in.  guns are lined up 3 and 4 deep behind the counter, even some hanging from the very low ceiling.  but nice shop, ammo, powder, primers.  brian
