.223 Rework Finished.
« on: December 07, 2010, 12:03:05 PM »
I'd been wanting a lightweight .223 for some time and I found a Remington 700 ADL in an old country store real cheap.  I added a CDL stock off a .270WSM from Gunbroker, some slightly worn bottom metal from eBay, the .223 magazine box from Remington, and a mil-spec two part epoxy finish to the bottom metal.  The trigger is very light, maybe 2lbs.  The sights were missing so I used filler screws to fill the holes.  Using the short magnum stock free floated the barrel nicely.

SWAMPMAN:  Did you stain the checkering darker than the stock or is it just coming out that way in the photo?  As I re-did a BDL 700 yrs. ago and did stain the checkering darker and I personally like the effect.  Nice looking project.  Jim

The stock is just the way it came from the factory I believe.

Heck of a nice job Swamp!!  I have a stainless 700 lite varminter in 223 with an HS precision semi beavertail stock.  Came from the factory that way and while it's nice...it isn't blue steel and nice wood.
