I shot two mule deer with my 18.6" Robinson Arms XCR-L in 6.8 SPC 1-11" twist spec 11 chambered rifle this fall.
My bullet/load of choice for hunting with this cartridge are the new 95gr Barnes TTSX designed specifically for the 6.8 SPC cartridge I load them in Rem LR primer brass with 30grs H322 & Win LR primers and give a light crimp using a Lee factory crimp die = 2825fps.
First deer I shot was a 2 point mule @ 166 yards bullet entered left side front of chest and exited right side thru rib just behind the leg the second mule deer was appr the same size doe shot was 80 yards bullet hit top of neck just below the head both deer were instant DRT.
I had both of my sons with me older son shot the one he is holding onto.
I feel that due to the lower velocities/bullet weights of this cartridge that appropriate bullets be used when hunting example Sierra P110gr Prohunters are designed for 270 Win velocities and will not expand below 2300fps on soft tissue with a 2650fps muzzle velocity that limits me to a max 125 yards where a 95gr TSX will expand below 1700fps & 110gr Accubond/110gr Accubond will expand down to 1800fps this makes these bullets capable of expanding in soft tissue beyond 300 yards.
