If the Elite Match you are referring to is a 1911 platform, it would certainly fit your needs, but so does the Glock and lots of 10mm shooters rave about their G20s.  Both should be totally reliable even with hunting loads, and both will ride nicely with you in the truck; my 1911s never have a cross word to say and that's the way I like it .......

glock 10mm.   capacity, magazine availiblity, reputation, design.  handy to carry, plenty of accessories and options.   the only other 10mm i would consider is a kimber or other high end 1911.   i had a chance to fire the one i got for my brother, and it was nice.  it threw the brass a country mile, but aside from that i loved it.    my glock with a streamlight in a blackhawk dropleg holster is about as perfect a woods gun as i could wish for.   and i have had just about every variation over the years.

a friend has a witness, and if the safety is put on, off, on, and off the hammer will fall.   not saying they are all that way, but it is enough for me to avoid them.

to me a 10mm would be used more for a hunting and feild gun then a self defense gun and for that reason id go with a 1911 just for the fact that it would no doubt be the more accurate of the two. If it was stickly self defense the glock would be a good choise.

Definitely go with the Glock, the EAA looks good on paper but I have heard a lot of horror stories about cracked slides and horrible customer service.

Nothing is more down and dirty reliable than a Glock.

If reliability and ruggedness comes first, I would go with the Glock.
If it's for target and maybe hunting, the EAA has a great rep for accuracy.
When I was picking out a 10mm, the Witness Hunter had my eye with the long slide, but magazine issues and the slide cracking problems scared me away.
I bought a 2nd gen Glock 20 off Gunbroker for $440.

"Uncle Ted" shoots a Glock, what more do you need to know? ::)

I've had both, I still have the Tanfoglio. I don't carry mine for self defense, but would do so in complete confidence if I didn't have so many pistols better suited for that purpose.
