One Encore or Contender barrel for .38/9mm/.357 ammunition?
« on: November 30, 2010, 04:26:55 PM »
Just came across this, this evening and wondering if there was an Encore or Contender barrel (Custom Shop or normal production) that could handle different (similar) rounds like this Medusa model 47 revolver.

It would be nice to be able to shoot this wide a variety of rounds from one barrel.

about the closest you are going to come to this in the Contender is the .357 Max...from which you can shoot .357 Max and .357 Mag.and all .38 specials..down to wadcutters.  In an Encore chambered for 460 S&W you can shoot the 460, the 454 Casull, 45 Long Colt. 45 Schofield.

Thanks for the tip, especially on the 460 S&W, 454 Casull, 45 Long Colt, 45 Schofield.

I was not aware of that.

Depending on your "chamber" 38 Super/Auto works,  or if your extractor is pushed up 380 ACP.  Yes I tried it; worked but didnt fire it, just for SHTF scenario.  Trouble is 9mm casehead is .391 to  .394 depending on whose reloading manuel you read.  38/357 is .375-.379 at case head.  So they would bulge too much if cut for 9mm.  9mm wouldnt chamber in my 3 guns i have for the 38/357 cuz of the 9's casehead diameter.  Would be nice tho. Cuz some of the 380 ammo has a really nice flat point.  Bet it would knock small game for a loop and you could eat the bullet hole. Without getting everyones attention for 3 miles around.
