Did anyone else here see the show on the History Channel last night? It was about the Mountain men. It was pretty neat. It was 2 hours of good information. Ill admit Im not too up on their history, but now I got a good idea of what it was like out there in the early wilderness. Boy they had it tough.

It's a neat show, but they sure made some mistakes concerning firearms. Didn't really do their research there.

That was a very good show - the documentary was based on the life of a Mountain Man, and they selected a few very well know men. The information was really good. The comment about the fire arms is true but I think you could tell most of the people were re-enactors using the weapons they had avialable - the description of the weapons available to the MM was accurate - just the pictures of the re-enactors weapons did fit. I am a 8th grade history teacher in Idaho - I just ordered the DVD for use in the classroom - beats reading it in the book.

They must have had a lot of thieves back then. I saw three different people carrying the same rifle.
