I agree with Junior. Only I only have one eye. In "57" I got hit inthe eye with a 22 rim fire hull from about 20'(cartridge stuck in a rotten log). You have never felt pain until you feel that. Two weeks flat on my back(no getting up allowed); eye cut open to remove blood clots; eleven years with novacaine(?) because of the sunlight; gloucoma; and eventual eye removal. All because I did something stupid. Man, it ain't worth it when the man can do it for $.  Pat

10-30 oil, a old rag and a air compressor did the trick.
With the dowel rod out a couple days ago, I poured maybe enough oil for half the barrel.  Waited for the compressor to finish its cycle.  Placed a air nozzel tip against the barrel.  Wrapped the old rag around the top.  Squeezed the air.  Out pops the live cartridge.  Now I have a compresses loaded round with a mangled 50 grains spsx round at the top. The wooden dowel rod opened up the tip of the bullet, didn't split the copper.   I guess it could almost make a mean hollow point if we cleaned it up a little.
Thanks for the comments and advice.  I have been thinking about he drilling option quite a bit.  I am going to donate some brass and primers (minus the powder and bullet) into a trial period.  What does it take to set off a primer with a drill?  Drilling near the primer, through the primer.  Top or side?
I know the primer takes a sharp direct pressure to make ignition.  But what if?

As for the neighbor and his reloads.  Well we had a conversation about this the other day.  His reloads his guns, my reloads my guns.  Easy enough.
Time to go shovel the driveway.
Glad you got the round out of the chamber safely.  Aside from remembering to never shoot anyone else's relaods in your guns, don't forget to always use an aluminum or brass rod when tapping out a round from the chamber as opposed to the wooden dowel rod that can splinter and jam up in your barrel.
As for drilling, why play with fire?  You now know what to do and what NOT to do, why push more risk when it's not needed?

Re: the neighbor.  No matter the bargain, don't buy his used guns.

:D Glad that it worked for you, Chigger.  Sounds like it didn't take all that much pressure.  I know that you're curious, but I highly recommend against drilling any primers.  I thought about doing it, but my personal risk/benefits analysis says that the knowledge gained isn't worth the risk.  But that's just me.
Life's too short to waste any of it,

alright nothing on the primer drilling issue.  I am going to pass of that.  For now at least.
Time to go start working on some reloads for the .219 donaldson wasp that has been neglected.  Have had it four or five months now.  Fired the twelve rounds that were with it (made from some place up in Lewiston Idaho)
Having resized all the 30.30 cased, trimed and matched the best I can pre fireforming.  Now time to finish the fireforming of what I've made.

thanks for all the thoughs and advice from all the commets.  It's been a good adventure.

Re drilling primers.

I'm away from home so I can't try this but will do at first oportunity.
Take a primed case( no powder or bullet)., lock into a vise and hand drill the primer. It should be safe enough with a pair of gloves & apron and standing offside as much as possible.
What is the point of Life if you can't have fun.

I'll have to remember the compressed air trick if I ever get another round stuck.  I still figgure that slowly drilling the primer is safe enough, but if the compressed air did the trick......

I wonder if that would work on a stuck case inside of a resizing die?  Hope I don't have to find out anytime soon, but if someone out there tries it, let us know.
