BARRELL BREAK IN?
« on: December 13, 2010, 11:41:01 AM »
Does anyone break their Henry barrells in. My new Big Boy 357mag should be here soon and I am curious. I checked with Henry and Mr. Imperato said none required. But is it done by anybody?

Maybe if you are a competition long range shooter it might make a difference... I never broke in my .17 golden boy and it still shoots amazing.  I've never "broke in" any rifle I've ever owned actually.  I can still hit what I'm aiming as long away as I need to with all of them.

I think barrel break-in is an old wives tale.  Shoot it and keep it clean, basic common sense.

I have asked this of a lot of folks at the range (a lot of experience and knowledge). All say it is not necessary. No firearm I have bought ever mentioned it in their instructions.

I have broke-in all my toys by taking them out the first day and shooting the "fun" out of them.
