Interesting Find!
« on: December 07, 2010, 04:05:10 PM »
I walked in to one of the Pawn shops I frequent today and ran accros an interresting find.  It was an H&R 176 Topper  Sportsman Long Range Edition  10ga 3.5" Magnum for $320.  The thing looked like a hand held CANNON!  The barrel was was very LOOONG and it was very heavy.  The guy at the shop said they were going to shoot it but haven't got a round to it yet.   If anyone is interested I can get you the Phone #.  I'd love to buy it but price seems a little high to me.  I'm sure that someone on this forum has seen or maybe even owned one of these.  What do you think about it?

I usually see them around here for $175.

That's about $200 more than I bought mine off of gunbroker for.
PROUD REDNECK CONSERVATIVE

I'd much rather be remembered for being a great shot than having the most expensive gun

I figured it was too high.  Maybe other folks will think so too and it will be there in a few months.  I don't know how rare it is but it is the first one I've seen.

If you're interested in it take a copy of the H & R catalog and show them the retail price. If you have some other form price list that could work as well. See if you can talk 'em down. I'd say they think they have something they don't.

This is an H&R inc. 176 Topper  AT ser# faq shows 1979.  H&R catalog wont help; two separate companies and this is a limited edition.  That ought to make it worth a little more but the question is how much.
