Two crows fell victim to the 7mm-08
« on: January 10, 2011, 05:35:29 AM »
Went out calling coyotes yesterday morning, but had no luck.  I have had a terrible song dog season.  On the way back to the jeep, I noticed a whole group of crows in bushes giving a hawk some problems.  I couldnt resist  ;D.  I lasered them at 186yds.  Went prone and dropped the first one right off the bush.  Of course the crows take flight circling their downed bud and wouldnt ya know it?  One of them lands right back in the bush.  OK, stupid, I'll give you something to hold on to also, LOL.   Touched off the trigger and he fell right to the ground.  Needless to say, the crows vacated the area........minus two....... 8)
It's all a hot mess...........

Sweet.
I hate crows.
My longest crow shots were 175 and 135 yards.
But the funnest one was a 60 yard shot with the 10/22 with a red dot while squirrel hunting.
The difference between people who do stuff and people who don't do stuff is that the people who do stuff do stuff.

Hey, good shooting with a rifle..they were some of my favorite winter varmints when I lived in crow country...it is much tougher to knock one off than a wood chuck..with a 7mm-08 no less...my favorite crow killers were the .222 and .22-250...I have a nice douglas 7mm-08 barrel in my rack..when I shoot out my .22-250 Improved, I may put the 08 barrel on that action...have several other big .22's..... ;D

Good shootin.

What bullet were you using? Weight and type.

What velocity if you know.

I'd think the 7-08 would break them in half ;D

150gr Sierra Match King.  Cannot remember the velocity.  Been a while since I ran it across a chrony.

Wyo Coyote Hunter, I love the 7mm-08.  I plan on using this year in your state to shoot a speed goat, if I get drawn.

Good shooting. You won't have any problems with the speed goats being able to hit the crows like that.

Good shots. Be careful, in some states it is illegal to shoot birds with a rifle, like WI.
