Cabelas Hawken 50 cal left handed??????
« on: December 16, 2010, 04:46:50 PM »
Was looking at the racks of used guns today at a local gun store. Happened upon a Cabelas 50 cal percussion left handed Hawken. Looked it over and the bore looks okay but the outside is a bit rough. This has a blued steel barrel, brass fittings and single trigger with fixed traditional sights. Stock looks to be a hardwood of some sort with a somewhat dark semi glossy finish and a thin rubber or composite butt plate. Barrel is stamped made in Spain. Price was a penny less than a hundred bucks and it looked to need to be resecued. Anyone know anything about these? Were they pretty reliable and accurate? That sort of thing.

I must have looked at to many guns yesterday cause I could have sworn this said made in Spain! Returned to that shop today for another look and it is made in Italy by Investarms. Owner of the shop said that this is the same company that makes the Lyman rifles. Still have no idea what model it is but for a 100.00 bucks I thought it a pretty fair price so I bought it!

I shoot one, same rifle you have only about 15 years older. The fit and finish on the new ones isn't as nice in my opinion they shoot great. I have one a couple rondys with mine. For a $100 you did good.
