Federal govt. shutdown
« on: December 15, 2010, 08:42:51 PM »
Just read where the weasels in Washington are at a possible stale mate. Seems alot of the Republicans, and a few Democrats, are threatening to hold up a bill, that would essentially shut down the Fed. govt. Most of the Dems, are pushing the bill, to keep the govt. running. But, it's full of pork spending.
I'm on the fence with this one myself. If it was just the politicians and workers in D.C. that went without paychecks for awhile, so be it. Let them panhandle for awhile. But, I'm sure that this would affect the people in the military, and they don't deserve that. Actually, if we could keep the military going, I'ld like to see the Fed's shut down for awhile. It would save us money, as they just don't seem to know when to quit spending. gypsyman

Obwana accused the Republicans of holding people on unemployment, hostage if they wouldn't approve the bill to extend benefits for 99 weeks.  Now the Dumocrats are holding those on Socials Security hostage if Republicans are able to stop the latest pork bill.

It's clear that it is the Dumocrats--particularly, Reid, Palosi and their lieutenants who are running this blackmail operation.  I hope the Republicans have the backbone to call their bluff.

At the rate they've been spending money, if they could only maintain the shut-down for seven years, we'd have no big deficit anymore. It would have to be a complete shutdown, though.

They added so many spending initiatives to the tax bill that has the extension of current tax rates that it's a bad bill now. I think the republicans should work to reject the bill and make sure it does not pass. It was a good concept at first, but they really turned it into a mess.

With the same concerns as gypsyman, I  hope it does stall out. Maybe if cafta and nafta were thrown out, extending unemployment wouldn't be such a big thing. Either way, they'll get their Christmas break, maybe pigossi will just turn off the lights and go home again?

The dems are dead meat and they want to do as much damage as they can. They have well over a $ BILLION in earmarks attached. I'd love to see a bill that outlaws earmarks and add ons, but if there was one, some low life would put an attachment to it. POWDERMAN.  >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:(

Oh my God!!  I agree with powderman!!!  Put a mark on the wall!!

Re: shutdown.  I fully expect the GOP to totally shut down the government in 2012 and blame it on Obama for some fake reason.  There will be no Social Security checks sent to retired people and no Medicare payments to hospitals.  Save your spare bedroom for grandma, and save some cash to buy her medications.  Hope like crazy she won't need to be admitted to a hospital because (1) they'll want cash up front; and (2) you'll have to drive a ways to find a hospital that is still open.  A Medicare stoppage will close 90% of American hospitals.
