Old pump 22
« on: December 12, 2003, 06:25:41 PM »
A freind of mine has an old pump .22 that he would like to identify.  It purportedly was made in the early 1900's.  It has a 20 in octagon barrel and is a pump action.  It is of the typical "gallery gun" that was popular way back when.  The only markings on the barrel is "Trailblazer and .22 short, long, and long rifle.  It has no serial number anywhere on the gun.  I realize that this is not much info, but maybe there is someone out there that has seen a gun of this type.  He has been offered 350 dollars for the gun but I have no clue as to its real value.  Any help would be appreciated.

John

If you could somehow post a picture that would probably really help.  What about some more specifics on the gun itself.  Is it a tube fed, magazine fed?  Anything on the buttplate?
Anyways, here at work, completely bored and armed with a Numrich Catalog, I might have found some info, at least something to investigate.  I see that Savage made several pump action .22's (gallery guns), the Model 1903, 1906 and a 1909.  Not sure if that references the year originally produced or if the various models are for 22LR, 22 Long or 22 Short?
Winchester made a Model 1890, 1906, Model 61, Model 62A Not sure of years of production.(?)
Maybe you could do a search for some pictures of these models and compare them to your friends gun.

It's not much given the limited resources I have, but it's a start!

Hopefully someone else will chime in to give you some more info.  Good luck in your search and let us know what you discover!

Found this searching:

premier trailblazer is a Stevens Model 29-A if that helps. These guns were made up for companies like Western Auto etc. for sale in their stores. This is all I could find.

Said I never had much use for one, never said I didn't know how to use it.
