« on: December 07, 2010, 12:29:58 PM »
i was going to sell this brl then i got to thinking i have a 15in. 209x50 love it but i cant load more than 60 2f in it or my arm goes numb had shoulder surgery and my nerves  wont take the recoil of anything over 60 i tried it and its a no go so i was thinking before i do something stupid and sell either off i should give it a try i put it together with a t/c rubber grip and after holding it i think a pac grip would be better i was holding it at arms lenth and its not to bad a little bit heavier but not bad so i got in a sitting against the  tree position and with the 3x9x40 3200 i can see enough with both eyes open to give this a try while leaving the scope on it i had it bore sighted so before i take it off and put a pistol scope on it ill try it as is so i was thinking the extra 5 inches of weight and the ports should be able to go maybe 85 2f 777 240 t/c black sabot i dont shoot much any more so i was hoping you guys that shoot all the time could tell me what you all think about this set up and how well do the ports help in the recoil
             thanks b44mag

So what is wrong with a light load for the 15", it will blow through a deer pretty easy.
I use 50grains of Goex 3FFF in my 209x50 15" with a Hornady 300 grain XTP and it has plenty of recoil for me.

I have also shot patched roundballs on that charge a couple times and the recoil is much reduced (177 grain ball) but have not tried on paper yet with prb's - you might want to try prb's since they are almost half the weight of most bullets your shoulder and arm might deal with the recoil a lot better. Also I have talked with a few people and they say patched round balls group very well in a 209x50 so it is worth thr try. PM me and I can help you with patch material ( I shoot a lot of prs in flinters and caplocks).

Also I am going to try the T/C cheap shot sabots to see how they do in it (they are 240 grains).

The longer barrel looks pretty front heavy but if you can shoot it off sticks it would be fun.
