LLama "extra" in 9mm largo/38auto "update"
« on: October 19, 2010, 07:13:58 AM »
Yup its a llama extra in 9mm largo/38auto

9mm largo is 28,000psi
38auto is 21-23,000psi
38super is 35,000psi.  unsafe in the llama 9mm/38 for sure.

I'm always looking for something off the beaten path or breaking the norm, just something thats different to play with.

I just ordered a LLama full sized pistol in 9mm largo which also takes 38auto too. Its also a C&R.  I figure i could eat up some of the cheap 9mm largo ammo thats still around. (25rds/$3.87bx)  Its a clone to the 1911 too. ??? Now i may have to look for a LLama in 45acp to so i have its bigger brother too.  I always see the llama's in 45acp too.

Are there any other spanish pistol manufacturers besides Astra,  Star and LLama????

I just cleaned it and lubed it with moly. Now i'm thinking about putting a 1911 full length guide rod kit in it but i wonder if it will fit the llama.

I was again lubing my llama in 9mm largo (second run in application of moly)and i wanted to see if the 1911 two piece full length guide rod kit would fit the llama 1911 clone.   It fits the orginal recoil spring and installed perfectly in the full size 1911 LLama.  I been told that the other 1911 parts also fit in the workings of the LLama too.

I noticed after I assembled it, I feel more spring pressure with the full length guide rod with the orginal llama recoil spring.  I guess there is a difference between when the spring coils up with no guide rod and installing the guide rod the spring is held straight so it can have more tention in the centerline of the gun.  Its just food for thought.

At Century arms and Sarco offers it too.  There is non corrosive and corrosive 9mm largo ammo thats available.  I think century arms is corrosive.  I clean all my guns the sameway wether its corrosive or not this way i don't mess up. There are rumors of it being machine pistol ammo too but if it has a lot of recoil when i shoot it i'll install a stronger recoil spring since the orginal llama recoil spring is the same as the 1911 recoil springs.
