I have (2) Model 340's, which is a very similar gun, same 30-30 caliber.  Make sure the front barrel band is cinched down and loc-tighted (sic) so the bolt won't back out.  Use the side scope mount and get a good Bushnell or better scope.  I use Hornady Leverevolution 160 gr bullets in mie and kill 6-8 deer with them every year.  Some folks hate these guns, some love them.  I think they are great guns and I have never had any issues with them...I think bolt action 30-30's are very useful.

160gr FTXs @ 50 yards with open sights.

I bought this gun for almost nothing and absolutely love it.  It is accurate and fun.

At the moment it is completely torn down and being refinished, will posts when its done.

If you reload you have a ton of choices for bullets because you can use any .308 bullet.  Mine likes them seated out a little, just short enough to fit in the mag.

Good luck, Matt.
