Yes it is crimped as with all 5.56 military as it is spec-ed for use in auto weapons.  Wideners site is specific that what they offer is not SAW fired.

I get 223 brass with what looks like black marks down the sides some say they came from a machine guns fluted chamber.

Thanks, kinda figured it was auto, just didn't know what the letters ment.
I've a bunch of 223 Lake city that was 1x (still with the crimp) and many had a little ding on the side. It irons out after fireing so no big deal. Don't know if it was full auto fire or not, those LC are a tuff little case.
Read someplace that the 308 stuff really takes a beating out of one of the Military Full auto guns, M60?

The machine guns like the (Squad automatic weapon) SAW and especially the old M-60 have quite large size chambers so they operate in the mud, blood and whatever. They really allow the cases to stretch and swell.

Those 5.56 cases that have the little ding on the side are usually fired in a M-16. It is from the case deflector, (the hump that sticks out behind the chamber opening). The case hits it and is deflected to the side away from the face of a right handed person but a lefty better learn how to shoot right handed or wear glasses.  ;D

As far as the SAW fired stuff goes, I've never had much trouble with the cases having expanded to any great degree as shot1 offers, but I have lost as much as 10% of a lot of brass due to damage from the violent extraction and deflection.  The SAW wasn't exactly designed with the reloader in mind.   :D  I only mentioned the SAW to the OP because if he is new to military brass he may not want to deal with some of this stuff.  Some of it can be pretty rough and a lot of the frangible NT stuff finds it's way through a SAW.

I got the whole batch resized and trimmed without any issues,all that's left is the swaging. Nice brass to work with.
