A Haversack
« on: January 10, 2011, 12:21:10 PM »
I made this out of a 75 cent scrap of really heavy canvas I found at a rummage sale, and some stuff out of my scrap box.  The buckle is a Brown Bess sling buckle, and the button is French.  The leather flap is scrap home tanned dear hide.  It is dyed with walnut hulls, and aged with moccasain grease and soot from the fireplace.

Nice!  I have started using possibles bags when hunting, it seems I need more stuff to hunt than I used to and a possibles bag fits the bill nicely.  Handmade is great too!

I don't do black powder anymore, but something like that hanging on the doorknob with matches and candles and other indespensible items could come in handy in a pinch.

Here's a hat I made.  It started out as a slightly off white Stetson blank.  I fitted a river cane stem to the bowl I bought at Old Salem.

How would you stretch such a hat that is slightly too small?
