50 Caliber 245 grain vs. 295 grain
« on: December 29, 2010, 05:24:24 AM »
I'm hoping one of you can give me some advice before I head to the range.  I just bought some 295 grain powerbelts to replace the 245's I've always used.

Here's my question: Will the trajectory be the same?  If not, how much difference will I see at 25, 50 and 100 yards?  I'm thinking that the trajectory may be somewhat flatter for the heavier load.  I use two pellets of triple seven in my load.

very little difference in drop.

I know some of my guns prefer the 295's over the 245's especially with lighter charges.

Go to the Powerbelt website and look up the ballistics.
I use 270 platinum and my CVA seems to marginally like them better than the 295's.
Both have given great results out to 100 yards and the trajectories are about the same when zeroed at 100 yards with 2 X 50 triple sevens or 80 grains of Blackhorn.
I tend to prefer the heavier bullets for 100 yards as they have given me great penetration with no breakup and drop is no concern at this distance.
