Does Weaver still make pivot mounts
« on: December 25, 2010, 10:23:33 PM »
I think I'd like to try a set on my Marlin if they are still made.  I haven't seen any in 20+ years, this might be due to there being very few "real" gun shops left these days.  I was once told they didn't fully return to zero but at my typical hunting range, under 100 yards, I can't see this being much an issue.

They aren't listed on their website, FWIW, I bought a set of their Grand Slam steel Cross lock rings online, they're made in china.  :-\

Had a pair of tip off Weaver about 40 years ago.  Never tipped them but thought I needed them.  Sold the K-4 and mounts together.

Brownells had them listed fairly recently, they still may have some. If not, shouldn't be too hard to find new-old-stock at a well-stocked older gunshop. I have a couple sets on Marlins ( .44 & .444 ) and they have worked fine, probably close to 40 years old.

Have em on my old model#70.  They return to zero within about 1/4 inch at 100 yards  Plenty close enough for big game.  See them on ebay and Gunbroker sometimes.

I know I have a couple sets of the rings. I should also have bases. I bought a whole box of stuff from a small store and there was many Weaver BnR sets included.

I know I have one used set.

Let me look later on tonight.

Nice of you guys to be offering to give away these parts.  I know they must be free: it would be against the rules of GBO to be discussing a sale here on the discussion forum.
