Tracker 1 owners unite.
« on: December 31, 2010, 08:51:03 AM »
All we ever see or hear about anymore are the Tracker II or the Ultra slug guns. Tracker I's seem to have gone completely out of the picture. They are used every deer season by thousands of deer hunters with great sucsess, yet they seem to have been forgotten .
You never see a Tracker I for sale in the Classifieds. We hang on to them for a reason. They are great slug guns. Let your voice be heard. Maybe if enough of us speak up,the Tracker I will again be offered to the deer hunters.
So lets hear your sucsess stories, and your reasons why you will never give up your Tracker I

Flint you have no idea how bad I want to get my hands on a Tracker I 20ga. I hit the GBO classifieds daily in hopes that there will be one listed. I still have never seen one there. SIGH!

I have trackers in 20 and 12 as well and I will always hang on to them as well.the 20 is threaded for choke tubes and I can't imagine a more versatile gun.

I'd much rather be remembered for being a great shot than having the most expensive gun

Spikehorn, I have seen them (occasionally) for sale used at Kittery Trading Post in Kittery Maine. You can check thier inventory online for any used gun by going to "KTP used guns" and following the easy prompts. Check the used listings for both H&R and NEF. You never know what is going to show up. I have purchased items like a 28 gauge barrel, a complete Versa Pak set-up, a Huntsman, and other sundrie items from them. They will ship to your FFL also. All the best of luck in your quest, you WILL find one....<><....:)

P.S. another great place for new and used guns, Handi's included, is Two Rivers Canoe and Tackle in Medway Maine. I bought my used, like new, 20 guage Tracker I there. The owners Barry and Linda are great people. Barry is an old Helicopter pilot from Viet Nam, a real bear of a man but gentle. I would not like to see him upset through....<><....:)

I realy hope someone from H&R reads this thread.I'm sure they would have a ready and willing market for the return of the Tracker I's.

The I is smoothbore and the II has a rifled bore.

The Tracker  I shoots slugs accurately out to about   75 yards for about   $2.50 a box(5) and up.
The Tracker II shoots slugs accurately out to about 150 yards for about $18.00 a box(5) and up.

So......in the smoothbore slug guns,
Is the '162 Buck', from the early-mid '70s, the earliest version?
Then there was something else, wasnt there?
And then the Tracker I,
all with open sights, all discontinued, but all available out there from time to time. Get one when one shows up, but remember, that 12ga. is a vicious kicking (but effective) beast. When I find a 20 I will sell my 12 barrel.

+1 with you on that MSP Ret!

YEP, still kickin' myself for that....
I still have the 12ga Tracker I.  But my first and only deer ever taken was with that 20ga Tracker I.

I got my first NEF which wa a tracker 1 and I love this gun. It fits me good and it feels great. Some guns are so uncomfotable like my old mossberg 500 but this tracker 1 is so great and versatile. Its the kinda gun you can use to hunt many different things and be succesful.
