I READ A NEWS STORY
« on: January 14, 2011, 10:37:45 PM »
This is all about idealologies and the failure of folks to think thru a situation.
Gibbes sparred with a Russian newspaper representative about the failure of America to prevent the AZ tragedy from happening.
The Russian--coming from his cold war background, is critical of Americans having to much freedom and this could have been prevented by limiting freedom and that freedom should be limited.
NOW---it is my personal opinion---freedom did not cause this tragedy. Laws--certainly---will not prevent these tragedies.
People have a tendency to do what they want---I give the reporter the example of the crimes and killing in Russia after the break-up of the Soviet block nations. Russia trying to adjust after a totalitarian government was dismanteled and the Russian mafia started taking liberties with economics.
It was a situation that had to happen in Russia---they were finding their feet---a natural occurance,
This thing in AZ happened---it was going to happen---it will happen again--you can't stop THINGS from happening.
You can punish---and you should---but that is, really, beating a dead horse---it is in the past.
People look for answers to the problem---Well, it is like dying---it is gonna happen.
I don't know why we get so worked upabout stuff happening---It is sad and people suffer---I know I would be torn apart from losing a child-------BUT, the fact is it happened and you have to move on.
WELL, moving on is a choice---some folks choose to wallow in the sorrow---and, that is just as tragic as the happening.
Blessings

I don't think the media and liberals care all that much that they can't seem to move on after every crisis, I think they are using every crisis to it's max to turn the US into their own utopian police state.

I think it was Rom Emmaneal that let the cat out of the bag about what liberals think when he said, "Never let a good crisis go to waste"

The liberals using the shooting in AZ to further push their own ideals and agendas on all of us is as big of a tragedy as the event it's self.   When something like this happens there is always a big push for more gun control laws claiming that more laws and restrictions would somehow have stopped this tragedy from occurring.  None of them can acknowledge that additional laws or restrictions probably would not have stopped the shooter.  They also will not accept the fact that a determined nut job such as this guy could have just as easily killed and maimed just as many if not more by driving his automobile into the crowd.  And they certainly will not acknowledge the fact that a responsible citizen with a legally concealed weapon may have been able to neutralize this idiot before he shot his third, forth, fifth or sixth victim.

As a side note I applaud the actions of the woman and gentleman who eventually wrestled with the shooter stopping him.  They are the true heroes.

Let's assume that all guns could be removed from our society.  Would that also assume that all the nuts would just evaporate?  Would the screwballs not be able to figure out alternate methods to wreak their havock?  No, I've often contemplated what would be worse; to be shot with a 9mm, or hacked with a machete, or run over by a Buick.  None of them would be a good thing, but my theory is that your survival chances are probably at least as good with the 9mm.

How do you stop a speeding vehicle from wiping out a bunch of people in a crowd?  How do you stop a bomb that has been detonated in a crowd?  At least a nut with a gun can be dropped if there are armed people present.  Everyone might not be saved, but at least the carnage can be limited and the perp can be taken out.  That is exactly what happened recently at the school board meeting--I can't remember where it was--but in that case no one but the nut was even injured, because a security guy happened to be armed.

The basis for freedoms must never be infringed upon. A ban on guns would not have prevented the shootings in AZ. Nor would magazines with less capacity. To blame the gun, or the so called lack of laws is ludacris at best.

The real reason there was a shooting in AZ was a young man with a mental imbalance took it upon himself to try to make people listen to him. He had a history of disruptive behaviors and mental problems. The judiciary system failed to rectify this problem each time he was in court before them.
Plea bargains etc. This young man need mentall help. Gun control laws do nothing for mental health.

A false since of security does not eleminate danger but causes a blind eye to be turned toward it.
