savage 111 22-250 trigger

I found a savage 111(long action) 22-250 in a pawn shop for 149.00.  The rifle is in good to excellent condition, but the trigger is a little heavy.  Just wondering if the timney trigger for 110 will work on this rifle because I can't find a trigger made for 111.  Yes this is a long action even though it is a 22-250(short action) cartridge.  Any help will be very appreciated.

The question is how new is the model you looking at and if the trigger will fit that style.Is it accutrigger or the earlier model.That what you need to know.The 110 is same trigger as 111

Several companies make aftermarket triggers for Savages but I'm cheap so I tuned my non accutriggers to a smooth 3 lbs.  There is a site somewhere (possibly savage shooters) that tells how to do it.  The replacement spring steel can be scavenged from a large safety pin or a spinner bait. I didn't have a diamond file so 600 grit sandpaper took a little longer but worked nicely.  At that price I would jump on it and then worry about the trigger later.

I once owned a 22-250 Savage 110 which was an intermediate length action, they are longer than the short actions but shorter than the long actions.  Mine had a recessed breach face like a Remington has today and a clip on type of extractor.  It shot really well.  Savage shooter supply should be able to provide you a trigger, however you may be able to just replace the little bar type spring on the outside of the trigger and get a good trigger pull out of it.  Larry

Thanks for the help guys.  I really didn't need another rifle, but for 149 dollars I couldn't pass it up.  The pawn shop employee saw 22, didn't see the 250 and assumed it was a 22 rifle.  I will shoot it first before I do any tinkering.  Thanks again for the knowledge.            Jeff in Texas
