Yesterday the UPS man dropped off a package with the new powerbelt aerolites in 250 and 300gr. Slick looking bullets but a lot of testing to be done of them for max loads.

Massive hollow point,

300gr Platinum VS 300gr Aerolite,

245gr Powerbelt VS 250gr aerolite.

And today i went out with an assortment of charges, First shot this group with 90gr blackhorn209 out of my Optima at 100 yards. This rifle for me hasnt been that great with lighter grain powerbelts. So when i shot this group, it was actually an improvement with lighter powerbelts.

Switched to the 300gr Aerolite with 100gr BH209 and was surprised to see that it shot up there with the 250's. Blacked out holes were from the previous 250 Aerolite shots. Shots 1 & 3 are touching, maybe #2 didnt cool down enough?

After that i decided to go up to the 100gr blackhorn209 charge and see. After this guys, i honestly almost passed out from the yelling and fist pumping LOL. Its NEVER shot a light powerbelt like this before.

My brother tried 100gr BH209 and the 250 in his Accura V2 and those would be the highest 3 shots. After that we adjusted 14 clicks down, went to 110gr blackhorn209 and took 3 more. A big improvement and we will try that load off the lead sled next time out.

4" of fresh snow on the ground this morning and i could see where the powerbelts gas seal was breaking up. This was only about 5 to 6 feet from the muzzle.

Next time i am breaking out the leadsled! We only used the bag rest due to the ATV's battery being dead due to the cold. The bag is a heck of a lot easier to carry around, but it did a heck of a job today. I rarely use it but i just may start breaking it out more often.
I'll be doing penetration - Hold up tests as soon as the weather turns warm again.
