Different Barrel
« on: January 18, 2011, 05:52:55 PM »
A couple of days ago I traded for 30-30 barrel that has the top half of the chamber milled to a smaller radius than the bottom half.  I've only seen this with some old H&R 410's, with matching reduced receiver top.  Weight is 2lbs, 8.6 ounces on my digital postal scale. That is 4 ounces lighter, with sights, than my conventional light pattern 30-30 barrel without sights.

Anyone know the story on this style?

Bruce

The profiled barreled Topper M158 has been discussed a few times before, here are some of the discussions with some pics. The best place to get info on vintage H&R firearms is in the H&R Misc Talk forum, we have a couple experts on them that post regularly and answer questions pertaining to them. http://www.gboreloaded.com/forums/index.php/board,135.0.html

I have now come to the conclusion that what Tim does not know about Handis, we would have to ask a higher source.

I would like to know your secret of being able to whip out those previous threads on any topic that is raised. A special Admin ability, or could we all do it?

I depend on the search a lot, in that case it depends a lot on whether I can remember who has posted on the topic before, if you use the search and add a user to the search, it makes a big difference, my problem is I can't always remember who the users are than posted on a topic, got lucky this time, searched for the word profiled then checked all the results until I recognized the member that had all the profiled barrels, Hofs01, then reviewed all of his old posts until I found the pics, they're real easy to see just by scrolling down the page.  I had PMd Bruce that I was gonna see if I could find them, just took a while! ::)

Thanks,

Tim

And here I thought that "profiled" was a "bad" thing............ ;)
I told my pap and mam I was going to be a mountain man; acted like they was gut-shot. "Make your life go here, son. Here's where the people is. Them mountains is for Indians and wild men." "Mother Gue", I says "the Rocky Mountains is the marrow of the world," and by God, I was right. Keep your nose in the wind and your eye along the skyline
