I probably ought to buy more guns
« on: December 11, 2010, 09:02:09 AM »
I don't buy or sell many guns, but I had a rifle in .270 I didn't have a use for anymore so I sold it. Prices have gone up apparently and I got more than I paid for it by about twelve percent. Not bad. Had it about five years. Not a great investment but good to know that if you take care of them, you get rewarded a bit.

The only bad part about investing in guns is the cost of feeding them.
99% of all Lawyers give the other 1% a bad name. What I find hilarious about this is they are such an arrogant bunch, that they all think they are in the 1%.

12% is better than you will make with any bank.  Heck, that's better than my 401k has done over the last 5 years.  :(

If I made 12% back on every gun I owned I would still be out a couple hundred percent.  :)

I tend towards uncommon manufacturers guns which tend to run more $$$, course most any rifles are high dollar compared to some years back.  In the area I live in, people generally have one rifle and thats all they use for the 3-5 shots a year they take....maybe 1-3 shots to make sure nothing has changed from last year and maybe 1-3 shots hunting.

So to sell and hope to make money is pretty much a lost cause.  But I am past the age of selling, trading etc...so it really doesn't make much difference.

I don't buy & sell guns to make money, but sometimes I find I have accumulated too many that I'm not using and sell off a few. I figure if I can buy a gun & play with it a while and then sell it and, on average, recover my money that's a pretty good hobby.  ;D
