Yoohoo, Tim. If ya wanna bump this over to the Michigan Forum, go ahead, but nobody reads it. Patty plays in the "Mud Hole Band" on Friday nights and just got home at close to 11 last night and met up with a DNR Officer in the driveway. I didn't know who until today....Mike Hamil. a superior person. Mike is what Conservation Officers should be nation wide.
Anyhow, someone drove down the road, probably around 9 pm, had a wolf cross the road from my south forty and plinked it with something like a .223 or a .22-250. They, he, she, or it, then took it about 8 miles north and put it on the state highway, I would guess in an attempt to make it look like a road kill.
I was asleep in bed at the time. I had an injection in my left eye yesterday afternoon and was in a lot of pain, so I turned in early. I never heard the shot. A buddy of Mikes found the wolf and called mike. Mike said when he got there the wound wasn't 20 minutes old.
I've had no word if they know who did it, but the only thing that bothers me is it happened at my home, I don't break the law in any way, but I told Mike, as I have his former boss, if wolves threaten my critters, they're dead and I'll tell them and then waltz through the motions. A man's got a right to protect what is his. I haven't been bothered, and did not, and had no reason to kill this wolf.
