M-44 Qustion
« on: January 16, 2011, 10:24:20 AM »
Does anyone know about a T53 Chinesse version of a M44? How accruate are they and are they worth investing in. I can trade my 7.62 Nagat for a T53 with out a bayonet. If i do I will have to find one.I was also thinking about sporterizing it. Thanks Mike

What's the inside of the barrel look like? Darker than a gopher hole? I prefer the Russian.

Being able to find a correct chinese bayonet for it  will be tough. Too bad about the bayonet being gone. China made a few that had a "tri-form" bayonet instead of the standard (4)cruciform. If it is one of the better Navy Arms imports you shouldn't have any issues with it. If it is a "bringback" and in Rough shape, it might not be the best candidate for a "project". If you do find a bayonet for it and mount it remember that the M-44 was designed to be shot with the bayonet deployed.  Have fun!

Hungarians are typically hard to find in my area.  Differant ammo could solve the accuracy problem.

T53 Chinese carbines are not as common in the USA as some other Mosin Nagants.  I wouldn't sporterise one just because it's kind of rare.  The down side to the T53 is that most of them are in pretty rough shape.  If you find one in good condition you should grab it.  If the bore isn't bad, they can be as accurate as any.
