Seems Governor Parnell in his "State Of The State" speach yesterday really slammed the Federal Government over "States Rights". He mentioned the law suites he has implimented against the Feds over State Rights issues, and mentioned several more he is bringing forth in conjunction with several other Western States. "We are no longer a colony of the lower 48".
Yea, Governor Parnell!!!!!
Most Alaskans are behind him 100%. We have been wanting a Governor that would stant up to the Feds for a long time.
Remember Old Joe, he was right!
For those who don't know anything about Old Joe, Joe Vogler started screaming about how our Statehood act gave away the farm to the Feds. Alaska ceeded 74% of the land in Alaska to the Feds to become a state. In return the Feds were supposed to help us move into the 20th century by providing infrastructure like the other states were be provided. Things like highways, bridges, railroads, and return of some lands as needed by the state to continue to grow.
To date we have had one highway built, back in the early 70s. And they keep locking up more and more land, and placing restrictions on our movements about the state. Joe said we had grounds to nullify the Statehood act and we should pursue freedom. We are no longer a colony, yet that is the way we are treated.
