There are more good rifles out there for what you are looking for than you could look at in a week. Winchester angle ejects can be scoped, Marlins made since early 50's can be scoped, almost every bolt action maker has short, light weight carbines, just bought a 223 Weatherby
Vanguard on closeout and 15% sale on top of that for $280.00. Had 2 of the 308's with the same 20" barrel, synthetic stock set up, quick handling buggers. Pumps are good as well. You got lots of answers here, start handling rifles and let us know what ya got. DP
