Three of the most prolific authors on the topic of muzzleloading shooting and hunting are Toby Bridges, Ian McMurchy, and Sam Fadala-- though they have penned many articles as well.

Do you have a favorite book by these folks, or perhaps by another author that you would recommend to a friend?

Modern Muzzleloading For Today's Whitetails, by Ian McMurchy. (Krause Publications.)

It's a beautiful book-- worth it for Ian's photos alone.

Yep, that's a good one. McMurchey took a soft line on evaluating the rifles, but there's a ton of information there.

I agree, as you know-- particularly with his convoluted rating system, and the arbitrary "hunter group" and "expert group." Nevertheless, it is a fine, fine work-- which is naturally why it was mentioned.
