FLU STINKS BUT THIS HELPS
« on: December 18, 2003, 06:41:06 AM »
Well, I felt it coming on yesterday and last night (about 6pm) came down with chills and fever.  Fought it all night long.  Hate the flu.  Very little sleep and sure didn't want to go run what few traps I had working this morning.  However, trappers pretty much must go out every day.  So, I bundled up, got me a good cup of hot chocolate down and headed out.  Here is what I found this morning.  Sort of takes the flu away for just a few minutes, but after skinning them, I think I will stay pretty close to a fire today.

For Sale: Old wore out trapper - rode hard, put up wet, high milage and earned every mile.

Thanks guys:  Well, all except you WQ :shock:

Lee;
  Very good observation!  If you notice, the second fox is in a #2 DBL.  That set was made for a cat.  Now I use mostly CS but depending on circumstances, I may set a DBL.  The first fox was in a set for coyote on an old road.
  When I am setting "straight" for coyote out in the open pastures, I usually try and get a 2 1/2 to 3 lb. tension.  Not that many greys will venture to far out in the open like a red will.  But, when I am setting close to timber, or where greys are, I use "free fall" pan.  I do make a few adjustments to the trap and make sure I get no creep.  I hate to see a grey track right on my pan and the trap not fired.   :x   Sure, I get a few more "non-target" catches, but that is ok with me.  And I am still getting good pad catches on the yotes.

WQ;
  SSSUURREE!  I turn them little fellows loose.  Like heck, I will!  Roll over, go back to sleep, and just dream that you could catch them like this. :eek:  :)

my kids had the flu a couple of weeks ago. was nice of them to bring it home and share it with me, too. normally its fun for kids to get up in the morning to watch the school closings report due to weather. lately they watch it to see if it will be closed due to illness. some schools were down in attendance by 30-40% so they closed to keep it from spreading.
lots of liquids, lots of aspirin, and reading these posts.
