IT didn't affect me before and it won't affect me afterward. I have no need or use of hi capacity magazines. Another reason for the manufactures to make more money- just like the " ammunition shortage" from a few years ago.

The thing is this is not just "high capacity" magazines.  This is anything over 10 rounds.  STANDARD capacity mags on many pistols are 15 to 17 rounds.

That's aside from the point that if we start getting into this "it doesn't affect me so I don't care" attitude, it's just a matter of time before they try to ban something that DOES affect you.

As said by Pastor Martin Niemöller regarding the rise of the Nazi party:

Quote
First they came for the Jews,
and I didn't speak out because I wasn't a Jew.

Then they came for the Communists,
and I didn't speak out because I wasn't a Communist.

Then they came for the trade unionists,
and I didn't speak out because I wasn't a trade unionist.

Then they came for me
and there was no one left to speak out for me.

2nd amn says nothing about "SPORTING USE"
When it was written citizens were allowed the same weapons as standing army .
We can debate what is legal and what is not but the 2nd amn says arms with no list of legal or not legal.
If some one stabs a few folks will we reduce blade length ?
If someone runs over people with a car will we reduce the speed limit and vehicle weight ?
In a free country you punish those who do wrong not limit those who do right.
once more it is about people control
The answers of course,if you read the laws, yes, they WILL (and have) restrict blade length and yes they WILL reduce the speed limit. The question should not be WILL they but should they.

You know,I usually hate it when people throw that one out there, but in this case it 100% demonstrates the point. These people don't want to just want to limit magazines ,they want to ban all guns. Its not some nebulous conspiracy theory,it is the publicly stated goal of their organization. Once they have a permanent ban on the sale of 10rd mags, they will then try to make it so you cant own them. Then the next time there is some tragedy, they will say,why do you need more than 6 rounds? It will keep going until its like it is in some countries where you have to jump through hoops just to buy a single shot shotgun and all you can get are trap loads.

That of course brings up this guy http://www.thefirearmblog.com/blog/2009/08/24/turning-birdshot-into-slugs-for-self-defense/

There was a guy who shot IDPA that worked in the islands ( the one that Glock had its distribution center on ). He came home once a month and would be here for a week or so. He shot at the same match I did. He always had some HI-CAP glock mags for sale . One day someone ask how he got them . Seems only mags sold in USA were marked LEO only. He just went to Glock and got some before comming home. He had a lic. to have his gun on the island and would bring it home each trip with a supply of new mags. He would also pass out cuban cigars for an attractive price.
I would expect the drug smugglers will find a way to supply mags and guns if they are banned - THINK MEXICO .
I have to ask why do some politicans want to make good Americans risk being a criminal ?
If ya can see it ya can hit it !

Sen. Kerry signed on to co-sponsor the new legislation in the U.S. Senate with fellow Democratic Sen. Frank Lautenberg of New Jersey. The bill would ban the possession, import, or sale of any high-capacity magazine that has the capacity of more than 10 rounds of ammunition – the same type of clip allegedly used by Jared Loughner in the murder of six people and the shooting of U.S. Rep. Gabrielle Giffords.

This bill bans the possession of high cap mags. No grandfathering. No good. Contact you local Rep.
