« on: January 30, 2011, 11:07:42 AM »
i am going to order a new band saw, any thoughts ?? i have been eyeballing  this one 7x12 from wholesale tools

I was going to get the northern tool version but they have a back order and this is the same saw.

I think it will handle most all i have to cut.

Do you really need one that big?  I have the small one (5x6 Enco band saw) and it has done everything I need for 15 years.

I want to be able to cut up to 8 in but i cant afford a really big one. so i figured i can turn the steel over and cut again from the other side to finish the cut.  and i plan on getting a bigger lathe in the future so i figured i will only have to buy a saw only once.

That's not really that big, we have one at work and even at that size it sometimes is too small....

When you get to doing the design, observe how much better putting a small radius on the details looks (some were done here at the muzzle, some were not).  This is one of a dozen in this style made of 4140 (overkill?).
