Stranded Pa.

I left Oklahoma on Tuesday for Pa. the job is finishednow but my truck is broken.
Dang the bad luck. The dealership says they are 85% sure they can have it fixed by Monday ::)
It wouldn't be so bad but these yankees don't like oilfield folks much less southern oilfield folks.
They refer to me as my kind Ha ;D I told one this morning they had better learn to deal with because the oilfeild was not going to go away. That went over like turd in the punch bowl. LOL

Sounds like what the Ford dealership in CO told me when the tranny went out on my Bronco out there. Three weeks later they still hadn't even looked at it. I got a ride home and paid a guy $1000 to fly out and drive it back home for me. I also paid AMMCO to have it hauled to Denver and fix it. Ouch.

Good luck. The Eastern part of Pa. is under a possible snow storm advisory for the middle of the week.Enjoy your stay; the Steelers are going to the SUPER BOWL. Look on the bright side- your not stuck in West Virginia. lol

LOL I drove down to Clarksburg WV this morning to check on a ailing Cat engine.
All the air lines and the air starter were full of ice and frozen up.

  Strange; I haven't seen any hostility toward southern folks exhibited in such places a Washington, Pa.  Of course, if you are dealing with "big city" folks don't take too much offense...it's not the southern part they dislike.  In the big cities some (not all) seem to think that anyone who does not live in the city is somehow, less informed and less aware...but that's just their loss.
   I have not noticed much hostility in the south for northern people..except in a few remote areas.  I would like to think most of that old hostility has finally worn off.
    I live just above the western PA border...it was -27F here this morning...hope you can get your truck fixed and soon operating again.

Well I got the truck back $2600 dollars worth. Then I had a flat but I made it down to Effingham Il so far time for a short nap.
IG the bussiness folks out close to the rigs love us oilfeild hands and treat us like familly. Small bussinesses and hotel people like to see us come in. And a certain dealership better love me ;D

I made it back to God's country 2:00pm Tuesday it took 21 hrs including the short nap.
I just might be getting to old for them long hauls. It's good to be back on Tulsa time.

Once, I had a dream, in that dream I had landed somewhere in NY state. It must have been a dream. The folks were pleasant and fun to visit with--seemed like home except for the accents.
Had a fun day with one of those crotchety old men I met there.
It gave me a new respect for NY State.
I told you in the beginning it must have been a dream.  ;)

   I am pleased that you got your truck fixed..although I wish it hadn't cost you so much.  I was born here in NY, the "vampire" state, but have spent some years in the south, both in and out of the military.  There are things I appreciate about the north and things I learned to love about the south.
   Please; if somebody treated you wrong because of where you live, it was out of ignorance..
            ....so just consider them a bunch of DUPNIKS !

   William, blessings.. You are a true southern gentleman..and I hope you have told people that NY State is not covered with asphalt and we are not all  "big city"  types..  in fact many of us are as 'country' as anybody !  :D ;D

I think most of us can tell the difference between folks who still enjoy the good life and those trapped in the hussle life.
Them folks aren't just in NYC, L.A. or Chicago, but in the southern big cities also.

In all fairness the majority of folks I dealt with in Pa. were real genuine folks. It sure is some beautiful country. When I was up there back in the fall I had powerful urge to be slipping along some of those ridges with my long rifle.  I am going to have to paddle some of those rivers up there this summer.
If any of y'all ever make it to Washington Pa. stop in at the Starting Line Racing Bar the beer is cold and the hospitality is warm.
they make a great Southwest burger  you'll have to order it special as it is not on the menu, but the girls will be glad to get one made for you.
By the way those Girls aren't hard on the eyes by no means  but this is a place you can take your mom to.

William, I hope you do make it to the real upstate NY sometime.  We would love to take you fishing in the great ST. Lawrence River and even do a little hunting. The folks up here are decent folks.
All bets are off if you travel 300 + miles to Albany or NY City. Even us native upstater's don't go there.

That wanderlust I took was the best trip I have ever taken.
I was by myownself for a week going up---no Hen, no schedule, no route--just me and the highway.
I did enjoy NY---really did---missed some folks I wish I could have met---Mikey and others---ol GB on the way back.
Boys upstate NY is just plain beautiful--it was not my first experience here--but it was the first time I had stopped to smell the roses.
Don't tell the Hen---but I am thinking about doing that again.
I guess, in many ways I am a loner--some would say selfish--you can have your own opinion.
Ironglow was a good example---I will remember that day--and do, often--for the rest of my life.
West Virginia was a most plesant experience---I really like W. Virginia.
The drive from Pittsburg across the Southern part of  NY State was a great experience. Jamestown was a delight.
I went back to my own original roots--Seneca, Seneca falls and really, Ithica.
My ancestery came from here-too Texas in  1837. My ancestry is buried up in this part of the world.
Picked up the Hen in Albany and we spent a glorious 8 days wandering thru the leaves in NE.
Boys--for you folks that wander West at every drop of the Hat---you are missing America and our heritage. Don't get me wrong---I love the West---but if you don't see the NE you are doing yourownself a disservice.
 I am encouraging you men to shed your wives for a week or two--they might enjoy the solitude--and do a wanderlust of your own--before time takes its toll.
