What would be considered The Millenium gun by H&R?
« on: February 12, 2011, 08:08:44 AM »
Would it be a serial number of 2000 made in the year 2000?...

What was the prefix for that year?

Thanks,

But I'm a little new here.  So would HP designate the year 2000?

Yes, HP or NP =2000. The FAQs is required reading for anyone interested in H&R firearms, specially newbies, spend some time reading there and you'll learn a lot.  ;)

Tim,

The required reading is a bit daunting.  I guess it makes.a "newbie" feel a little intimadated at making a first post, such as myself....forgive me, as I said... I am abit new here.

Anyrate, can you tell me anything about the year 2000 gun?  Was it special, or just the next gun in the SN progression?

Thanks.

So yours is HP 002000 ?  That would be the S.N. of the Millennium gun....It would be SN 002000 and a 38-55 with special features.

I have several HP or NP frames, there's nothing unique about them, that's just the year of manufacture, I've never seen a special edition H&R or NEF millennium edition models, not that they never made any, they have made lots of special editions tho. Two of mine are unique chamberings tho, 7x57 Mauser and 7x64 Brenneke which I think is the only year they made them, but neither has any special marking, they're just Handis with pallet wood(walnut stained hardwood) stocks.

And welcome aboard!!  ;)

Not a Buff Classic... It's more of a Target with a shorter barrel.

Welcome:

Seems that you have a unique gun, only in the fact that the serial # is 002000.
Just happened to be the gun that got that serial #, nothing special as far as H&R is concerened.
Did the long range sight come on the gun from the factory.
I wouldn't think so but maybe.
If so, that could make it special.
Either way, you have a good looking 38-55 Target Classic!

Marlin bought H&R in Nov 2000, they probably started a new number series to differentiate between the old ownership and new.

Wayyyy cool S.N.; you may have THE millenium rifle.
FWIW:
The BC (Buffalo Classic) is the long 45-70
The TM (Target Model) is the 38-55
