The bluing on a Henry?
« on: January 10, 2011, 07:26:36 AM »
Can a Henry owner tell me their thoughts of the bluing on a Henry? I am thinking of going and picking up thier cheapest model of .22 from Wally World. Alot of cheap guns I own have a cheap bluing which rust much easier than the finer bluings or the guns from 30-40 years ago. You guys that own many, know what I am talkign about. Is Henrys blue cheap?   Thanks    .DT

Nothing cheap about the bluing on any Henry. Even on the less expensive ones the bluing is better than more expensive rifles. You won't be dissapointed.

Thanks for the reply! After sending private messages to a few members that have owned 'em and reading up on them some more, tomorrow I plan to call and order a octagon barrel .22 Henry. Looking forward to warmer weather and owning my 1st Henry  ;D     .DT

I have the base model H001.  It's a fine rifle.  The octagon model is an excellent choice.  Enjoy.

My H001 is at least eight years old and the blue is great! I had to refinish the furniture
after loaning it out for a couple of years, looks like new now. The bonus is that it feeds
and shoots well too.

DT,

I think that you made a Good Choice.

I've had the same Gun,, for about 8 month's now, New From Bud's,, But CTD,, has'm for a little less now.

The H001T,, is probably my Favorite 22 now,, and I think that you'll probly like yours too.

The Blueing on mine,, was pretty good,, but there was an area on the Barrel,, that looked like it was Rubbed or something.  Might have just been the Shipping Box,, that rubbed that area.

For Area's that need attention on the Blueing,, I use a product from Brownells called "Oxpho Blue Creme".  Great Stuff,, and I use it from time to time on all my Blued Guns.   I've gotten Gun's that I consider pretty expensive,, with Blueing Concern's,, but with the Oxpho Blue Creme,, I don't give it a 2nd Thought.   Just Wipe the Stuff on,, Rub it in,, and all is Good... No Mess,, No Fuss,, and Best of All,, you can put Oil over it,, just like Normal for Storage.

You are going to Love That H001T,, I can just about gaurantee it,, but if you should have any problems "EVER",, you can always Rest Easy,, Cause When You Buy a Henry,, The Gun,, is Warrantied for a LifeTime,
Joe :)

I love my Henry 22 LR and the bluing is very well done. The only area that might need an occasional touch up is the receiver which has a black alloy finish.
