TAURUS. Ultralite???

I recently bought a mod 85 ul, 2 in bbl, near as I can tell from the book, no mod # on the gun I can see, it's a 38 spcl. I've fired a box through it and other than shooting high it seems pretty accurate. Does anybody have any experience with this gun? POWDERMAN.

Hey Powderman. I used to sell them. What load are you using that shoots high? I demo'd them in Vegas and they didi pretty well. In my experience, the lightest load was always closer to POA. Sounds the opposite I know but that's the way they shot.

MOHAWK. I did some more shooting last week and found that by adjusting my grip it shoots right on. I lowered my grip and put a dab of brt wht paint on the front site. The more I shoot and carry it the better I like it. Thanks for the reply. POWDERMAN.

I've carried an Ultralite for a bit over 6 years now.  I mostly use 125JHPs or cast 150SWCs of my own manufacture.  Both have the same POI through my gun.  Not a fan of the factory grips but I haven't found anything that suits me better yet.  With all the negative talk about Taurus I have to say, I have shot a bunch of ammo through this little thing in the last 6 years just as I do anything I choose to carry and it hasn't had that first hiccup no matter what I do with it.

OLD SYKO. All I've shot are reloads. 150 gr cast swc, pretty stiff. I may back the pwdr down a tad next loading because I sure don't want to shoot it loose, they are close to +p. I'd like to keep them at present vel because they are accurate, but don't want to damage my gun. Thanks for the reply. POWDERMAN.

Hi powderman -

FWIW, I've had a ported .45LC UL for several years.
I shoot my loads, 255 SWC/~650 fps, from the short bbl.
Not hot, but a big enough hole to do what's needed, if needed. 

It's definitely more than a .38, but fully controllable at 7 yds-ish.
For me, their grips help soften recoil too.

I hardly notice it when carrying, mostly pocketed.

I have a couple other Taurus models, usta have a .454 RB, and I've had no complaints.
For my money, they're good guns.
