Last wagon west
« on: July 26, 2009, 03:56:10 AM »
Back in the early 60s a family calling themselves the last wagon west loaded up a conestoga and rolled out to California the hard way.  I was in high school with two of them and wondered what ever happened to them.  I read somewhere that the same group rolled the wagon through part of the old Soviet Russia.  Any information would be appreciated.

I am guessing they stopped at a Walmart and realized the store had everything they needed and saw no reason for continueing west

Regarding "The Last Wagon West"... My aunt Iyone Gillis is the mother of this crew. They crossed the US and parts of the former Soviet Union in the wagon. I have heard from another relative that there may be a book in the works regarding this.  They have been trying to get my aunt to write one for years, but now one of her daughters may be doing this.  If I hear anything else, I will post it!  Thanks for your interest our really unique family story!
