I finished the fab work on the carriage I'm restoring.  Here's a video.

dominick,
Looks nice!  What thickness is the flat iron banding around the siderails?  Did you cold bend it or heat it?  It looks like a nice fit.  I've done it before (cold bending 3/16") and it was very hard to do and still get a good fit.
It took a lot of hammering. :P
Are you going to show us pictures of the mounted barrel?

Zulu,
The 90 degree bends are cut and welded joints,  The shallow degree bends and the rolled section are formed by cold bending with a brake and cold rolling around a 6" diameter pipe.  The strap material is 3/16" x 2" flat stock. I will post photos of the completed cannon when ready.  Dom

That sure is a fine carriage, Dom.  I remember seeing a whole bunch of that double trail style show up in and around New England in 1976 and their numbers kept increasing until around '82 or '83.  Your metal work is very, very nice, love it!

Best regards,

Tracy and Mike

Thanks for the compliments Zulu, Artilleryman, M&T.  Looking forward to my Krupp cannon. I see it's coming along very nicely.  :)

As usual, fine looking work, Dominic.
RIP John. While on vacation July 4th 2013 in northern Wisconsin, he was ATVing with family and pulled ahead of everyone and took off at break-neck speed without a helmet. He lost control.....hit a tree....and the tree won.  He died instantly.

The one thing that you can almost always rely on research leading to, is more research.

Thanks Lance.  I received the cannon Jan 15, 2010.  The barrel went to the machine shop for sleeve fitting in early March and I pick it up the first week of January 2011.

Dom,

Outstanding work! I wish it was mine!
Mr president I do not cling to either my gun or my Bible.... my gun is holstered on my side so I may carry my Bible and quote from it!
