Most Accurate Slugs for the Tracker II in 12 Guage
« on: January 30, 2011, 07:38:59 AM »
I'm looking for the most accurate slug for shots 100-200 yards.  If you have stories please post along with the type of slug used.  Thanks.

Ron

My gun likes the Remington copper solids, the Winchester BRI sabots, and the Winchester supreme all about the same out to 100 yards. I haven't shot them any farther than that.  A few years ago I put 2 copper solids through a small doe's heart (2 different directions... about 30 seconds apart) then she ran uphill and fell over dead right under my stand. I should'a saved that second shell.

I voted other since I use the federal premiums with the Barnes expander bullet.6 one shot kills. The last was a 20 GA though. Every group I've shot to check zero has been 2" or less.
PROUD REDNECK CONSERVATIVE

I'd much rather be remembered for being a great shot than having the most expensive gun

That would cost more than the gun.  :)

He might find it on the first box. Each one is individual what shoots good in mine may not in his. Don't have to buy them all at once. Start with the ones that get the most votes in the poll and work down until you find the ones that group the best. I got lucky with the lightfields in my Tracker II. My USH I spent a bunch of money on sabots before I tried the buck hammers.

After an exhausting search of the world wide web a few things came up: 1) Most folks don't use the Tracker 2 for 100 yard+ shots.  2) Most use "foster" style slugs. 3) All don't care for the recoil.  I bought the Tracker 2 because it doesn't weigh much.  Recoil doesn't bother me.  My Tracker shoots foster style Remington Sluggers well out to 100 yards.  100-200 yards is what seems to be the big issue....  Thanks for all the input.
