This is my first try with paper -patched bullets,as I have been reading up and getting lots of info before I start and I think it worked.
Just got back from trying some home-made paper-patched bullets using the paper that I had here to try from the paper companies.(Free samples)
Went extremely well,the grouping I got after I scanned it on to the computer and then used my target analyzer said I got a grouping of 1.65 inches for a 5 shot group at nearly 105yrds,so pretty pleased that they are working straight off for me.
The only down side was when I ejected the cases,there was still some yellow(Unburned?) powder in the bore,I'm using Mulwex (ADI) AR-2208,which has a burning rate very similar to IMR-4064,maybe to slow???,might try another powder,a bit faster maybe,what do you think all you other paper patching people.RE-7??.
LOAD DATA: 45/70
334 grn soft lead paper patched .452 dia,patched to .4585.The lead was a ratio of 10:1,I think,can not remember or find the note I made when I made them.

and bullet crimped after seating with a Lee Factory Crimp Die
When fired I could see the paper-patch leaving the bullet at the muzzle,looked like confetti and there was NO LEADING at all which is cool
Now I will try some more,with a different powder or maybe a hotter primer,any thoughts?.Maybe a small charge of black powder to help burn it up??.Like 5grns.
I forgot how the Ruger#3 kicks,I love that little gun,it tells you not to forget it packs a wallop at both ends
I forgot and had my thumb to close to my nose,while sighting in,whack,straight in the nose,ooh it hurt!brought tears to my eyes,it did but that is half the fun with this rifle
Any thoughts on powder,I'd like to hear them,oh! and the powders that you get,I might not be able to here in Australia.
