I'm starting to wonder??
« on: December 23, 2003, 02:25:33 AM »
Do you think that some of these surplups that are coming into the country are refurbed for the "US" market to sell to us??  And are refurbed for us? I'm starting to wonder if wear being taken by some of these guns??  Does the gun being all redone for us hurt the collector value, like the future value of the gun in years to come?  What are your thoughts?       BigBill

These redone/reworked Mausers and some mosins??  I don't include the rearsenaled guns there is a difference.

My first thought is no, at least not on any of the "common" milsurps found today.  I don't think it would be worth the time and effort.  If Century/AIM/etc is selling 91/30's for $64.00 you know that the importer probably paid about $20.00 at best.

I do see where you coming from though.  I would imagaine that it could happen.  The US is probably the largest importer of these old milsurps (just a guess) so if they happened to "find" some new type/model they would be more than please to sell them to the importers.

I still don't see much info on the recent batch of Mosin 91/59's, could it be a dupe?    :-D
