Went out Sunday morning, but had to leave at 8 am to get ready to teach 4 year old Sunday School.
Sat in the hardwoods til about 7:15, and decided to sneak up on some unoccupied greenfields.
Snuck to within 20 yards if this one. The recoil made me loose sight of where he went but it was not straight down.
There appeared to be some skedaddle marks headed east so I headed east. No blood, figured I must have missed.
That afternoon, took a shot at a bobcat in the exact same spot. He was headed west.
When I pulled the trigger, it felt like I shot under him, but I found a blood trail headed west.
So 3 of us, armed only with flashlights, head off in the thick stuff in the dark after what we thought was a wounded bobcat.
(It seemed a lot more rational at the time)
Found this at the end of the trail.
Was sort of relieved not to find a wounded bobcat; it never occurred to me why all the blood was dry.
