Deer Processing in Central AL
« on: February 28, 2010, 06:41:25 PM »
A new deer processor has come on-line in S. Montgomery/N. Crenshaw Co area.  Nelson's Grocery on US 331 in Highland Home.  It used to be Kelley's Grocery. Nelsons took it over after a robbery.  They also have a store in Covington Co. They make excellent deer sausage and cube steak!  The most impressive thing I found about them is you get back ALL the meat you bring them!  Several in the area never seem to return what you expect but Nelson's always has. I have no connection to them, this is just one hunter to others.

For the 2010-11 season, I used Edmondson's in Alabaster.
They are located off US 31, about a mile south of the retail center at I-65.
They offer a wide variety of sausage.
Everything is vaccum packed.
Prices are reasonable.
Place is clean.

I like the chops, hot breakfast sausage, and bacon burger.
The difference between people who do stuff and people who don't do stuff is that the people who do stuff do stuff.

David Justiss just off 231 north here in Titus is the best I've ever used overall but Ken Owens in Autaugaville on Hiway 14 makes some deer balogna that is absolutely delicious.

Ken did a great job on a Bream mount for my grandson.  +1 from friends in Autaugaville on Ken's deer sausage.
