Not something you see much these days.
« on: February 12, 2011, 05:16:11 PM »
I was brought up in a small country church in a little town called Piedmont.  The church is Pastored by my Great Uncle David.  David and Elaine Ingram were blessed with four children, two boys and two girls.  These children were raised in church and have all dedicated their lives to Christ.  It is often spoke of in our little town how great it is that none of the children ever left the flock and became singers and formed the Gospel group the Ingrams when they were in highschool.  As the children grew older they each took a spouse.  I don't know if it was part of the dating criteria, but each of the spouses joined in the gospel singing as the Ingrams grew from a group of four to a group of 8 over the years.

The Ingrams have been singing in churches all over the south for twenty years now.  Each of the families each have at least two children of their own now.  This leaves David and Elaine Ingram the proud grandparents of 10 grandchildren.  Tonight I was invited to a singing at the small church of the Nazerine under the announcement that the Third Generation would be performing.

The grandkids range in age from 8 to 20.  Tonight I saw a 12 yr old on the drums, a 14 yr old on the piano, and a couple of the teenagers playing guitar while the others sang their hearts out to spread the msg.  It is a Saturday night and these are mostly high school kids.  Not only was it amazing to see them there, but it was unreal the amount of teenagers in that church.  Every bench was packed!  There were even adults there that had not been in a church in years, but came under the persuasion of their children.

Tonight I saw tears of joy on my Great Aunt Elaine's face, and I can't think of any greater feat a parent could accomplish.  To not only be able to see all four of your children choose to live for Christ, but all 10 of your grandchildren as well.  Must be doing something right!

HEATHER. That was wonderful, thank you for sharing that inspiring story. Gospel music leads a lot of people to Jesus that can't seem to be reached any other way. Theres a local family that doesn't sing much anymore but it's a real blessing to hear them. We heard them a bit over a year ago and I was happy to see that they still sing REAL gospel music. May God richly bless the family you posted about. Charlie.  ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
