Maybe try posting this on the Slug Gun Forum a bit farther down. Some of those chaps may not visit here often and its likely someone there knows.

You can post any type of H&R/NEF shotgun question in this forum. No problem with that. Don't know much about the scope you posted, but sometimes a Bushnell scope is hard to fit on a H&R/NEF product because of the big ocular bell on the Bushnell as it hits the hammer when using most rings.

My personal preference is the Leupold 1-4x20mm VX1 or other 20mm Leupolds. And welcome to the forum, post often and we'll try and get you an answer.

I use a 4x32 Simmons pro diamond. That works fine for me.

what about the Weaver shotgun scope at Natchez?  it is straight 4x, might be too small for some people's taste.  awesome scope for the money

hey guys thanks for the scope options.the main reason i was goin with the scope i posted was because it had the 50,100(zero),150and 200 bdc only not all the way out to 600 yrds. so im new to hunting and wanted to be able to take a shot out to 200 yrds but still be able to take a 50 yrd shot and the scope seemed like exactly what i wanted.the price on the scope was only 169.99 so the price was right.

This is what I have on my smokepole, and when I get a slugger its going on there.

The scope your talking about might be on, as they say, but it will change with different slugs that have different velocities or different BC`s. My muzzle loader wears a 2 1/2 X Leupold and I kill a deer with it at 289 yrds. Unless your going to shoot targets with your shotgun there is no need for a higher powered scope. The lower powered scopes also give you a larger field of view so it`s easier to find you target.

Was a time when a fixed 4X was considered a pretty good sniper and varmint scope.
Aint we spoiled?! These are the 'Golden Days'.

The Simmons Black Diamond is a very good scope for your purpose. I have three and no problems on 12ga. or 45/70 with hot loads. The fixed four power is all thats needed

As far as I'm concerned the only option would be a Nikon SlugHunter. Several different reticles to choose from.

Hi, I'm new to the forum. I just got my first gun. It is a h&r ultra slug hunter single shot with the ultragon rifling and bull barrel. I was wondering about the scope, I am looking at. It is a new Bushnell DOA shotgun scope at cabelas. It says to sight in at 100 yards and the 50,150,200 yard cross-hairs should be on the target to. Any input be great. Thank you

WELCOME!!
Sorry I have no first hand experience with this scope. But Bushnell makes a good product and people who own them seem to like them just fine. I have read good things about the DOA.

I know you only mention the Bushnell scopes, but I have Leupold shotgun VX II's in 1x4 on both of my USH's. Leupold is my first and last choice.

I responded to your "other" post too....

Is this the scope you looked at?

http://www.cabelas.com/riflescopes-bushnell-trophy-doa-shotgun-scope-1.shtml

I would be concerned the same as Carbine man. You see, the size of the ocular lens on many Bushnell scopes causes you to mount the scope higher than I like. Making them NOT handi friendly. The quality of the scope is fine, as I said people like them and they work very well and a good price point.

I much prefer Leupold scopes. Every time I buy something else I wish I had spent the $$ on a better quality scope.

I generally site in on highest setting as it's easier to see what your doing. Then once sited change the power up and down and shoot an various distances. Get some trigger time in!!
