Hello,I just got a Colt Model 1889 Navy 41cal. revolver and was wondering does the cylinder turn in the counter-clockwise and lock or the other way I just want to be sure and is there a websight to check for more info has to worth all numbers match patented in Aug.5th 1884-Nov.6th 188- good bore everything functions good has 20812 on bottom strap of grip.and 6inch barrel thanks any help would be great.white with flake frame too black colt grips and colt logo.

Look at the hand, which side is it on?  It pushes up, and the cylinder will turn that direction.  If you want to shoot it, see if you can find a 38WCF (38-40) cylinder for it, it has the same bore size and the 38-40 is MUCH more available and reloadable ammo.

Another way to tell which way the cylinder rotates is to look at the locking notches on the cylinder.  The "finger nail" shaped dents point in the direction of rotation.
